By Lauen Hyman

On April 12-13, Fernando Treviño Jr. visited Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Treviño is the Student Regent for the Texas A&M University Board of Regents. It is a one year position appointed by the Governor of Texas.

During his visit, Treviño met with school officials and student leaders to learn about A&M University’s current and upcoming projects. He stayed at the dorms and also caught the magician Ran’d Shine that was here during CAB’s Spring Fling week.

Treviño is a Political Science major at the George H. W. Bush School of Government and Public Service, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Masters in Public Service and Administration (MPSA). This program is intended to be a five-year combined Bachelor/Master program, which Trevino is on track to complete in 2013.

He holds honors including National Hispanic Scholar and President’s endowed Scholar at Texas A&M University. He is a member of the Texas A&M Century Singers. Treviño has also written a blog for Texas GOP Vote that can be found at http://www.texasgopvote.com/blogs/fernando-trevino .
