The Columbian Exchange

By Paulla Jackson

On Oct. 8, in celebration of Columbus Day, Dr. Michael Perri of the History department gave a lecture on the Columbian Exchange hosted by the University Historians. Speaking in Eagle Lounge, Perri explained the exchange of diseases, food stuffs, and cultures between the European worlds and the New World. Even though disease wiped out most of the population already living in the New World, the food stuffs that were exchanged made a big impact on the current foods we eat today.
